IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alvaria S
Jaquess
March 4, 1948 – January 21, 2026
Alvaria Simpson Jaquess' sunrise was on March 4, 1948 in Saint Louis, Missouri.
She grew up in the southside of Saint Louis, where she was educated in the Saint Louis Public School System. She attended and graduated from Chouteau Elementary School and McKinney High School. She earned an academic scholarship to Washington University after the birth of her beloved son, Lance, and went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
Alvaria's professional life included working at Saint Louis City Hospital, McDonnell Douglas Health System, Saint Louis City Lambert International Airport and the Ferguson Florissant School District. She belonged to Who's Who in America, NFPA, and IPMA Professional Organizations.
Lawrence Jaquess captured her attention and they wed on April 15, 1978. Lawrence brought four bonus children to the marriage: Bonita, Jacqueline, Darrin and Lee.
She enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing, and walking. Alvaria was very generous. When she was a teenager her Mother, Gladys Simpson encouraged her to send greeting cards which enclosed two dollars from her allowance. This practice continued over many years and the amount increased when she started working.
Her grandchildren were especially important to her, including Reiko (Anthony) and Kyra who lives in Saint Louis. She visited her other grandchildren in Tennessee and Kentucky, attending all weddings, births, and graduations.
She is also survived by two sisters: Sibyl Johnson and Renita Clay and nieces, nephews, many cousins and many many friends.
Her beliefs in the Bible were evident by her faithful membership at Ebenezer Lutheran Church.
