Brenda J. Walton-Kennedy was born on August 20, 1941 in Paducah, Kentucky to the union of Oliver Marvin and Viola (Love) Walton. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Paulette Smith; husband, James Kennedy; sons, Tommie and James; and two grandsons, Michael McNutty and Ricky Latham, Jr.

She moved to Saint Louis, Missouri at an early age and was educated in the Saint Louis Public School District.

Brenda confessed her life to Jesus Christ at an early age. Her church home was Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

Brenda was a loving mother to seven children of her own and a son that she called her own.

Brenda was loved by many. She was known to be one the sweetest people you could meet. In her own words, “she never met a stranger.” Whenever anyone showed up at her home, they knew there would be a pot on the stove - one of the best cooks this side of the Mississippi River.

Brenda was a caregiver, nanny and a housekeeper. She enjoyed cooking, live bands, playing cards, bingo and slot machines.

Brenda leaves to mourn her passing and forever cherish her sweet memories, her loving children: three daughters, Belinda, Debbie and Yolanda; two sons, Andre (Venus) and Rickey (Yolanda) and bonus son, Lamont; special granddaughter, 1st born, Laquita; a host of other grandchildren and great grandchildren; special Tammy; special nephew, Darryl; a host of other nieces and nephews.

Brenda will be truly missed for her soul food with some of her all time favorites dressing, sweet potato pie and her fried rice. We love you, Brenda, forever 85!!
