Derrick LaVaughn Hodges was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on Tuesday, December 7, 1965 to the late Herman Hodges and Gloria Hodges. Derrick was the third of four children.

Derrick attended Normandy School District. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal Savior. He read the Bible each morning and subscribed to several devotional apps.

Derrick never married and had any children. He worked at many companies, and all remembered him as a hard and devoted worker. Derrick took pride in his work and doing things correctly. Derrick was so comical, he always had everyone laughing.

Derrick never failed to come when his mother needed him for anything.

Derrick leaves to mourn his passing and forever cherish his sweet memories; his loving and devoted mother, Gloria McDaniel; his brother, Byron Sparkling and his wife Dianne; stepbrother, Michael McDaniel and his wife Synetta; sisters, Angela Hodges and her significant other Benny Johnson and Tara McDaniel of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; aunt Donna Johnson and her husband Clarence; a very close cousin, Nevelle Frazier; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other dear relatives and friends.
