Mrs. Emma Jean McClamb Davis Edwards was born May 16, 1935 to the union of Robert Peter McClamb and Hattie Nelson. Both parents and her older brother, Leon Nelson, preceded her in death.
Emma grew up in Marianna, Arkansas. She graduated in 1953 from Eliza Miller High School in Helena, Arkansas.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Charles Henry Davis to this union one son, Jerry L. Davis was born. Both her husband and son preceded her in death.
She moved to Saint Louis, Missouri where she lived with her aunt, Maggie Jones. She attended college and graduated with her certificate as an LPN. She worked for the State of Missouri Department of Mental Health for many years and retired in 1998. After that she worked at the Veterans’ Home and a local Adult Day Care Center.
On October 9, 1957, Emma was united in Holy Matrimony to Willie Edwards. To this union two children were born: Brent Karl and Edwin Alvin. Her husband and son, Edwin, preceded her in death.
Emma accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. She joined the West Side Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Victor Wells. She served on the Usher and Hospitality Ministries until her health began to fail.
Emma made her transition home on Monday, September 1, 2025 at the St. Mary’s Hospital, in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Emma leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Brent Karl Edwards, Saint Louis, Missouri; two nieces, Sheron Nelson and Lashonda Nelson; two nephews, Leon Nelson Jr and Leonard Nelson; one great nephew, Marcus Nelson, Forest City, Arkansas. One great niece, Latasha Nelson, Atlanta, Georgia. Emma had stepchildren involved in her life: two stepdaughters: Martha Watts and Verdia Edwards, East Louis, Illinois; and four stepsons: Lindsey Edwards, King Edwards, John W. Edwards (Wilma), Pickens, Miss., and Freddie C. Simpson (Arlinda), Flowood, Miss., one grand-daughter, Melanie Edwards one grand son, William Jackson; one great-grandson, William Jackson II, and three great-great grandsons: Jacole, Jaisheon, and Riley Jackson, and other cousins and friends.
