Francine Washington graced this earth on September 30, 1945, in Waterproof, Louisiana, to the late William Washington Sr. and Bessie Washington. She was the seventh of nine children, six of whom preceded her in death.
During her early years in Louisiana, Francine helped on the family farm and cherished time spent with loved ones. She graduated from Tensas Rosenwald High School in St. Joseph, Louisiana, and devoted her life to Christ at an early age.
In the late 1960s, Francine moved to Saint Louis, Missouri, where she met her lifelong partner, Theodore “Sonny” Hampton Sr., who also preceded her in death. She was a dedicated employee of Goodwill for over 40 years, retiring in 2016 due to health reasons.
Though Francine did not have biological children of her own, she lovingly embraced the role of mother to Sonny’s children — Ronald, Theodore Jr., Jeannine, and Brandom Hampton.
She leaves to cherish her memory her two beloved brothers, A.C. and Ferman Washington of Waterproof, Louisiana; her eldest niece, Ora Jean Miller, who was her everything and the only person who could keep her in line; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends who adored her and will greatly miss her kind, giving, and unconditional presence.
