Obituary

Gloria Jean Aldridge was born to the union of Aline and Walter James Cromwell on September 25, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the oldest child of their union of ten children.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Aldridge; three brothers, Dennis, Marshall, and Keith Cromwell; two sisters, Susie Logan and Emmaline Logon; and three grandchildren, Marlene Williams, Ronald Williams, Jr., and Isaiah Brown.

Gloria received her formal education through the St. Louis Public School System. She was a servant at heart and worked diligently throughout her life. In her later years, she was employed at Washington University.

Around 1962, Gloria met the love of her life, Mr. Samuel Aldridge. After a brief courtship, she knew she wanted him to be her husband.Proverbs 18:22 declares, "He that findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favor of the Lord." In 1963, Sam and Gloria were united in marriage, and to this union, five wonderful children were born: Sandra, Samuel, Gloria, Rita, and Cynthia. The favor of the Lord truly rested upon them, and it was evident throughout the 57 years they shared together as husband and wife, raising their children and enjoying their growing family.

Because Sam and Gloria honored the Lord and served their family faithfully, their family was proud to honor and serve them in their final days until they peacefully transitioned from this lite.

Gloria was loved by everyone. She had a bubbly personality, always bringing laughter and joy wherever she went. She loved cooking, sewing, and selling Avon and Watkins products, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Glora will be deeply missed. Yet, just as the Lord guided her throughout life, He was with her as she transitioned from labor to reward on Monday, January 12, 2026, in the afternoon. John 14:3-4 reminds us of Jesus' promise: "When everything is ready. I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going." Gloria was ready to answer the call, and heaven was ready to receive her.

Gloria gracefully transitioned in her sleep into the arms of her Lord and Savior, along with her husband, Sam. She leaves to cherish her love, legacy, and life: her devoted children, Sandra (David), Samuel, Gloria (Deward), Rita, and Cynthia; five grandchildren, Angela, Jessica, Rodney, Kendric, and Korey; four great-grandchildren, Siara, Xaviar, Kaydan, and Nova; one great-great-grandchild. Jac'ari: three sisters, Ellian, Carol, and Beatrice; one brother, Walter; one sister-in-law, Inez Johnson; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, church family, and work friends.
