Herbert H. Simpson's sunrise was on November 20, 1930, to the union of Will Simpson and Carrie Mosley Simpson in Drew, Mississippi.
The family relocated to Saint Louis, Missouri, in November 1944, where Herbert was educated in the Saint Louis Public School System. He later graduated from Washington Tech Business School.
In 1952, he was drafted into the United States Army and served his country with honor before being honorably discharged. He went on to retire from Consolidated Freightways after many dedicated years of service.
Herbert was a strong and generous man who brought joy to all who crossed his path. He was known for his giving spirit and always made sure those around him were doing well. If you weren't, he was quick to lift your spirits with his sense of humor. Herbert lived a full and meaningful life, helping friends, neighbors, and strangers alike—right up until the very end. The love and gratitude he shared will never be forgotten.
Herbert transitioned from labor to reward on July 6, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Will Simpson and Carrie Mosley Simpson; his beloved wife of 40 years, Rosita Johnson Simpson; his brothers, Willie Simpson Jr. and Robert Simpson; his sisters, Jessie Battles, Gladys Simpson, and Agnes Williams; and two grandsons, Paul Hearon and Theodore Conner Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Flesia Norment; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
