Isaiah Nelson Brown

June 29, 1930 — March 18, 2025

Isaiah Nelson Brown, born on June 29, 1930, to Anna Dortch Brown and Charles E. Brown Sr., passed away on March 18, 2025. He lived a life marked by service, dedication, and deep love for his family.

Isaiah proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps, where he earned the National Defense Service Medal in the 1950s. Following his military service, he made significant contributions to his community as a Sergeant with the Saint Louis City Police Department, serving from 1957 until his retirement in 1984. He later concluded his professional journey at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft, retiring in 1997.

He was a proud member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and enjoyed poetry, writing, and art.

Isaiah is survived by his beloved daughter, Laurie N. Brown; his nieces, Clara Ryland and Calra Brown Riley (Calvin); his nephews, Charles Brown III, Carl Brown, Curt Brown (Nicole), and Clarence Brown; along with a multitude of grand- and great-nieces and nephews who cherished him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Brown Sr.; his mother, Anna Dortch Brown; and his brother, Charles E. Brown Jr.

Isaiah Nelson Brown’s legacy of courage, integrity, and devotion to family will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed.
