James Edward McCaleb

James Edward McCaleb, age 79, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, at the James Cancer Center, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on January 17, 1946, in St. Louis, Missouri, James was the beloved son of James T. McCaleb and Bernice Shields.

James now joins his parents; two sisters, Betty Sue and Jerry Young; his son, Bruce McCaleb; and his grandson, Keenan McCaleb, in eternal rest.

He is survived by his devoted sisters, Linda and Wanda McCaleb; his sons, Mario, Jimmy, and Philander McCaleb; and his daughters, Angie, Maureen, and Kirein McCaleb. His legacy also lives on through his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.

James will be remembered for his unwavering love for family, his strength through life’s challenges, and the lasting impact he had on all who knew him.

His passions were family, listening to music, and loving God—a reflection of the joy, connection, and faith that defined his life. James always spoke about love, unity, family, and purpose. He believed in taking care of our children and loved ones, and he lived by those values every day.
