Joseph Wesley Simmons Ill was born to the union of Joseph Simmons Jr, and Alice Hamilton-Sayles, on March 20th 1947. He was the only child to this union. His Father Joseph W. Simmons Jr. and His mother, Alice Hamilton-Sayles both proceed him in death, as well as his sister, Alice Sayles Carter,
Joseph Simmons Ill was a devoted catholic, who began his christian journey at St. Marks Catholic Elementary school. His home parish was St. Rose Catholic Church.
He attended Mercy Senior High School where he excelled in academics, as well sports.
Joe was an honor roll student, a '3' letterman in sports- Varsity Football, Track and Basketball, also participating in Orchestra, and various other clubs at school
When he graduated in 1965 he attended Missouri Southern University, in Joplin, Missouri.
He worked for Wagner Electric, when he met and married Alexia Burkhalter in 1968. A son was born to that union in 1969, Joseph W. Simmons IV. After marriage he worked for the Department of Corrections for St. Louis County, where he became Captain of Correction Officers, Later in life he married Glenda Simmons, who also preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his Son Joseph W, Simmons IV (Sheryl), his Brother Eric Sayles (Elaine), his granddaughters Gabrielle Calvin(Donyle), and Jennifer Simmons, his Aunt Marilyn Douglas (David), a niece Alexandria Franks(Jordan), and a host of nephews,cousins and friends.
