Joyce L. Adams

Joyce Lillian Adams (Williams) was born on February 17, 1932, in Saint Louis, Missouri, to Wilbert Williams and Octavia Walker. She was their only child. Both parents preceded her in death.

Joyce was educated in the Saint Louis Public Schools and professed her faith in Christ at an early age. She was united in holy matrimony with Victor Adams.

Joyce was full of life. Though small in stature, she was a strong and feisty woman whose smile could light up a room.

She was a dedicated, hardworking, and kind woman who took great pride in her commitments. She was never late and never called off work, always living by her motto: "If you're early, you're on time. If you're on time, you're late." After 25 years of service at St. Joseph Hospital, she happily retired, leaving behind a legacy of reliability and dedication.

Joyce never met a stranger and embraced everyone with warmth. She loved to travel, with cruising being her favorite pastime. She had a deep love for her family and cherished her friendships. She also had a passion for entertaining, dancing, and music.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Adams; her grandson, Christopher Doss; and her longtime friend of 20 years, Spencer Golliday.

On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 5:48 a.m., Joyce was peacefully called home to be with the Lord while sleeping quietly.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters: Cynthia Penton-Young (Brian) and Vera Anderson (Charles); her sons: David Penton (Ronnie), Kyle Penton, and Anthony Penton (Alicia); her grandchildren: Larry Penton, Calvin Harris, Kyle Penton Jr., Johnetta Coleman, LeMann Coleman, Willie Doss, Charlie Anderson, Michael Goodman, Stephanie Goodman, Mark Anthony Johnson, Cerita Brown, and Quinita Brown. Joyce also leaves behind a host of great-grandchildren, cousins—including a beloved cousin, Marceline Mullens—and many cherished friends.
