Margaret Maria Lay was born to the union of Warren and Beulah (Casey) Buck on March 24, 1927, in Saint Louis, Missouri. Her parents and son, Robert, preceded her in death, as well as four brothers and three sisters.

Margaret was educated in the Saint Louis Public School System, graduating from Sumner High School. Margaret united Holy Matrimony to Robert Alexander Lay, Jr., in 1947, this union was blessed with two sons, Robert and Ronald Lay.

Margaret worked for the Record Center. She went to Harris-Stowe Teachers College where she graduated in 1966. Margaret began teaching in the Saint Louis Public School System where she worked until she retired.

Margaret was a great parent to her sons. She supported them by giving encouragement and attending Robert's church sermons and Ronald's singing. Margaret played basketball and chess with her sons. She was an active parent in all their endeavors.

Margaret was a faithful member of Cote Brilliant Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. She led Cub Scout Troops, taught Sunday School, and was active in Social Church groups.

Margaret leaves to mourn her passing and forever cherish her sweet memories her son, Ronald Lay; grandchildren, Britney, Robert, and Chantell; seven great grandchildren; brother, Joseph Buck; sister, Gladys; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other dear relatives, church members, and friends.
