Terry Lee Jones was born on December 16, 1944, in Tutwiler, Mississippi. He was the youngest child born to Johnie and Robertia Jones. His parents, siblings–Nara, Clara and Johnnie, as well as three of his children–Lamai, Terry, Jr. and Terry II preceded him in death.

Affectionally known as "Sweet" by family and friends, Terry was educated in the St. Louis City Public School system. He faithfully served his country during the Vietnam War, and retired in January, 2007, as a truck driver for Shnucks Super Markets.

Terry was a member of VFW Post #3480, affiliated with and held offices in McGhee Temple #1/Lambskin 64, and loved to restore vintage cars.

In 1967, Terry married Yvonne Spencer. He later married Rita Jackson Hill and celebrated their 44 anniversary in December.

Terry leaves to perpetuate his legacy; his wife, Rita; daughter, Zina Felton; sons, Terrance A. White (Susie) and Justin Jones; stepdaughter, Kimberly Hill; brothers-in-law, John Jackson (Deirdre) and Charles Jackson (Pauline); grandchildren, Deontral Brownlee (Tamara), Ciera Brownlee, Jasmin Jackson (Demarcus), Keisha Carr (Tre), Terrance A. White Jr., Justin Cook, and Aren Taylor-Hill; 14 great grandchildren; godson, Eddie McNeil, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
