Mr. Ural Hawthorne House Jr.

Ural Hawthrone House, Jr., affectionately known as “House,” was born on June 29, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the beloved son of Ural Hawthrone House, Sr., and Jessie Colena Posey.

House was the second-born of four siblings. His sister, Annie Willetta House Russell, and his brother, Alfred Ray House, both preceded him in death.

He had a deep love for music and was privileged to sing in the choir at Vashon High School. One of his proudest moments was the opportunity to sing alongside Donnie Hathaway. House was also an athlete, running track and playing basketball. A gifted math whiz, he enjoyed tutoring his neighborhood friends. A dedicated student, he graduated with honors from Vashon High School.

House earned his associate’s degree from Forest Park Community College, after which he became a teacher’s assistant at Yeatman Middle School. He later changed careers and went on to work as a devoted employee of McDonnell Douglas for more than 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Sandra Dianne House, and his grandson, Demond Lee, Jr. To his union with Sandra, two daughters were born: Angela Marie House and Wendy Danielle House. During his declining health, Angela and Wendy lovingly spent countless hours with their dad.

House leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Margaret House; his daughters, Angela Marie House and Wendy Danielle House; his sister, Marsha Marie Cann (Clement Cann); his grandchildren, Lauren Dianne Lige, Logan Kristian Jackson, and Aderemi Kayode; and his niece, Kemba Russell. He also leaves behind a host of relatives and friends.

House was a true light—full of laughter, jokes, and friendly conversation with with all he met on any given day. The Lord called him to his final rest on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. His life and legacy will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be cherished and deeply missed.
